Smart Casual Summer Office Outfit

What is your office dress code? Most businesses seem to adopt business casual but the evolution of what to wear at the office seems to change every few months. The newest workwear trend is the smart causal look which if you ask me is a more professional way to to say casual Friday but I like it. Today, I’m sharing a smart casual summer office outfit that you’ll love.

Now back to the original question, what is your office dress code? And I’m not counting what you wear in your work from the home office, AKA, sweatpants or pajamas. <LOL> If you physically have to go into an office, what can you wear? I guess it depends on the industry, right? From the tech company version of casual to traditional business casual, business professional, Wallstreet style, leggings for work to smart casual – the options and interpretations are seemingly endless.

I have worked in 6 different office environments during my career thus far and let me tell you the dress code expectations and interpretations range far and wide.

I recently picked up this gorgeous Striped Mock Neck Sweater Shell from Ann Taylor and knew this be a perfect top for a smart casual look for the office in the summer. I styled it with these Loft jeans that are really high quality denim. They fit true to size, I’m wearing a 6/28. They have minimal distressing so they are appropriate for the office but you still feel modern.

Depending on your personal style and preferences, I picked two shoe options that I would wear with this outfit. These woven rattan inspired pointy toe flats from Target that are MEGA comfortable and very stylish for summer. If you can get away with a little edgier vibe then these studded block heel sandals are great while also being comfortable for long wear. Find some similar sandal styles here.

Don’t worry if you can’t go sleeveless, a white blazer over the top takes this smart casual summer office outfit to the next level.

I’m a big fan of a white blazer and this one from Gibson is a favorite. It’s a really great quality and price. It’s not too constricting that you’ll be annoyed with it half way through the day. It’s got a pretty lining and fits true to size.

Anyway, really loving this smart casual summer office outfit. Even if you’re not going to the office yet or ever – this works for a date night, girls night, lunch or Sunday brunch outfit as well.
