Why Eating After 7 PM Is A Weight Loss Game Changer

Let’s be honest, life is busy and eating on a regular schedule is a challenge, especially when you’re following a strict diet to try and lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle. Trust me, I’ve been on my fair share of eating programs or diets but the one thing that I cannot seem to make work is the timeline of eating meals and that’s why eating after 7 PM is a weight loss game changer with Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion.

I can’t remember when I started my weight loss journey. Maybe it’s better to say it’s a perpetual journey than to try and pinpoint where it begins and ends since I have an autoimmune disorder. I’ve been living with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis for more than three years now. It’s a condition where your thyroid is underactive and doesn’t do its job. In fact, it creates quite a few problems including weight gain, lethargy, lack of energy, and motivation to name a few. That’s why I wanted to see what Always Eat After 7 PM was all about. The title is what immediately drew me in. I thought to myself “how out of the box” and “how perfectly does this theory fit my lifestyle.”

I have an hour commute into the office each day and often do not pull into the driveway until after 7 PM. So, you can see how it would be a challenge for me to have completed dinner by then. I don’t know about you but I don’t put the car in park and then immediately sit down at the table. Some weeks I’m a meal prep queen while others, I just have to whip something up when I get home from work. Therefore, dinner time for me is realistically between 8:00 and 8:30 PM.

Always Eat After 7 PM has changed my view on dieting and has provided me with a realistic plan to follow so that I can successfully lose weight. While I’m just getting started on this journey, Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7 PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of the reasons for resistance. That’s always been the hardest thing for me when actively dieting or trying to lose weight. It’s all the restrictions. The list of Do’s and Don’t’s are always so extreme making feeling motivated a struggle. If this sounds familiar, I challenge you to buy the book and take this journey with me.

As I turn the pages and take notes throughout the book, I’m finding myself really excited to dive in. I haven’t felt this optimistic about a diet in a long time. My autoimmunity presents a whole different set of obstacles when it comes to weight loss and after reading Phase I of Marion’s three-phase plan, I’m optimistic that I’ll see results with weight loss, more energy, rebalancing hormones (which is a real plus since I have a thyroid disorder) and boosting my metabolism (also a profound side-effect of thyroid disorders).

What’s evident from the first pages of Always Eat After 7 PM is that you’re going to get the science that supports late-night eating. Not only is Marion sharing how the plan worked for him and his clients, but he also gives the background information so you can learn something about what is fact and fiction when it comes to dieting.

In the first chapter, Marion debunks 4 myths that are common place in the dieting world:

  1. Eating food after 7 PM makes you fat
  2. Late-night eating slows down your metabolism
  3. Late-night eating interferes with digestion
  4. Eating carbs after 7 PM packs on pounds

We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. “Research shows that the average person’s metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day,” said Marion. “In short, your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it’s 8 am or 8 pm, you use food for energy the same way.”
